About BoneFoam
Innovative solutions that address the archaic inefficiencies of patient positioning.
While delivering a consistent approach that optimizes operative exposure, patient safety, and an effective working surface.
BoneFoam Origin
Dr. Peter Cole, a global thought leader specializing in Orthopaedic Trauma surgery, noticed how much time was spent positioning the patient using available materials such as rolled-up towels or blankets, wrapped IV bags, tape, or any other item caused him to remark. “It was costly, wasteful, time-consuming, inconsistent, and frankly unnerving,” said Cole, “I always had to make sure the setup was satisfactory.”
Dr. Cole set out to innovate the way positioning was done.
With the aid of Dr. Douglas Parsell, a biomaterials expert, they developed designs that were built for purpose launching BoneFoam, Inc.
The BoneFoam positioning solutions are now widely adopted and used by Orthopaedic Trauma surgeons in over 7,000 facilities in the US market and globally.
BoneFoam continues to evolve and tackle many of the most complex patient positioning challenges in the OR. The innovations include positioning solutions that can be used on a standard OR table thus facilitating the transfer of many surgical case types to the ambulatory surgical environment (ASC).
